VDMA’s construction industry non-EU complaint machine guide

The VDMA (German Engineering Federation) has published a new short guideline for construction companies and dealers on non-EU legislation compliant construction machines. Titled ‘What do your risk, when you use, buy or sell a non-compliant construction machine?’ the VDMA guideline addresses all that use, buy or sell construction machines in the EU. Wacker Neuson’s new compact machine facility is now in full production

Wacker Neuson is moving production of compact machines to a new facility located in the Austrian town of Hörsching. According to the firm, this factory is now one of the largest plans building compact construction machines in the world. Work to build the new plant commenced in June 2011 and compact excavators are now rolling off the production lines at the factory. The need for a new plant became apparent when Wacker Neuson signed a supply agreement with caterpillar for machines. "
Peruvian highway project moves forward

In Peru plans are moving ahead for the Via Parque Rimac road project. Contractor Linea Amarilla (Lamsac) looks set to handle the deal, which will cost US$600 million in all to construct. Some $450 million of financing will be arranged for the project. The construction work involves building a tunnel under the Rimac River as well as construction two viaducts and is expected to require three years to complete.
Innovative two wheeled vehicle for the future

A US firm has developed an innovative two wheeled vehicle that uses gyroscopes for balance. Because of the twin gyroscopes fitted, the single seater vehicle can stand upright on its two motorcycle tyres without toppling. Financial setbacks beset Slovakia’s highway development

Slovakian highway company NDS says that construction of the 13km Turany-Hubova highway may not be started in 2012. The previous Transport Ministry plan was to call the tender for this stretch in summer 2012. However, the EC has not yet approved the construction of this highway, with questions surrounding the protected area in the Velka and Mala Fatra mountains.
