Developers building roads in Moscow may get tax exemption

Moscow’s government is looking into the possibility of exempting developers from taxes on the funds they invest in building and repairing roads in the Russian capital. The current regulations require developers, which fund road construction, to make donations to the local road fund. The donations may not be included in construction costs and are subject to income tax of 20%. Investment in Northern Norway’s roads

The Norwegian Public Roads Administration (Statens vegvesen) will invest €1.8 billion (NOK 15 billion) on roads in Northern Norway between 2014 and 2017. The figure is more than double the investment in the previous four-year period when the Administration allocated €792.25 million for the same purpose. In China Jiangsu Province has set an impressive infrastructure budget. Some US$11.38 billion has been earmarked for transportation infrastructure projects during 2014. Of the total, $4.53 billion will be invested into road construction projects, while some $454.8 million will be targeted at the construction of civil airports.
Work to start on new Algerian highway

Plans are in hand in Algeria for work to commence on the first sections of the Hauts-Plateaux highways, with tenders now being prepared. The Ministry for Public Works has revealed that construction work for the first stretches of the highway will be likely to get underway in June 2014. The technical specifications for the project are still in the process of being determined. Expectations are for strong bidding for the 30km sections of the highway being put out to tender.
Japanese firm to build Vietnamese bridge

A new bridge in Vietnam will be built by Japanese firm Sumitomo Mitsui Construction in a joint venture partnership with two local contractors. The Holtekamp bridge; the Medan-Kualanamu Flyover; the Raja Ampat Ring Road; and the Oksibil-Waropko Road are among 19 proposed new infrastructure projects submitted to the Indonesian Ministry of Finance. The Indian government has signed a pact with Asian Development Bank (ADB) for loans worth US$ 275 million, as part of its nationwide Rural Connectivity Investment Programme. Work is underway on the Causeway Upgrade Project in New Zealand. The US$183.3 million (NZ$220 million) contract was awarded by the New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA). The route forms part of State Highway 16, with the fork being part of Auckland's Western Ring Route. China's Exim Bank is providing financing worth some €800 million to the Government of Montenegro for a highway project. The loan will be used to pay for work to a section of the Bar-Boljari highway stretch.
