New toll road project for Indonesia

Plans are in hand for a new toll road in Indonesia. The 300km toll road will link industrial zones in Semarang (Central Java) and Surabaya (East Java) through the Tuban, Lamongan, and Gresik industrial estates in East Java.

New causeway upgrade commencing in Saudi Arabia

Work to widen the King Fahd Causeway in Saudi Arabia is commencing shortly. The US$533.3 million project will take five years to complete. The work involves building two islands of 400,000m2 apiece and featuring some 48 two way lanes so as to be able to process 4,000 vehicles/hour as well as waiting areas for trucks and buses.

Bridge spanning Nepal’s Bagmati River open to traffic

The bridge linking Old Baneshwor and Sinamangal over the Bagmati River in Nepal’s capital Kathmandu has now been officially opened. In Serbia work on the Corridor 10 highway looks set to be completed as planned in 2016. Serbian roads company, Koridori Srbije, says that that the Corridor 10 motorway should be completed by the middle of 2016. The World Bank (WB) mission visited building sites on Corridor 10 and said that considerable progress has been made, with an additional 23% of works having been carried out in the last 18 month period. Design and construction work is commencing on a 47km highway project in Qatar. The design and construction portions of the US$1.17 billion project will be handled by Qatar bin Oman Trading and Contracting (Qatar bin Omran) and QDVC.
