Strong interest in Slovakia highway project

Poland plans programme of road maintenance contracts

The Polish road and motorways authority GDDKiA plans to award a series of maintenance contracts to private operators up to the end of 2017. An additional €482.23 million will be allocated through outsourcing during the period. The contracts will be for an average of five years, and payment will be subject to the quality of the service delivered. Work is starting on Poland’s S7 expressway. Italian firm Salini Impregilo is leading a consortium to construct a 21.5km stretch of the S7 expressway. The section lies between the Jedrzejow and Checiny junctions. The deal is worth nearly €144.67 million. The completion deadline is set for the third quarter of 2017. Sudan-Kenya highway being planned

A new highway is being planned that will boost transport connections between Kenya and South Sudan. This forms part of the East Africa Regional Transport, Trade and Development Facilitation Project linking South Sudan and Kenya. The project is expected to cost US$676 million in all. A portion of the funding will be provided by the Kenyan Government. Meanwhile a loan worth $500 million is likely to be provided by the World Bank.
Design for St Petersburg’s new highway ready

Preliminary design work for the Eastern High-Speed Radius construction project in St Petersburg has been completed. The project calls for the construction of a highway and a bridge between Fayansovaya Street and Zolnaya Street. The project will require an investment of some US$2.67 billion and is expected to be funded through private financial sources. Loan helping fund Slovenian highway project

The European Investment Bank (EIB) is providing a loan worth €145 million that will help fund a key highway project in Slovenia. The loan is being given to the Slovenian state highway company DARS for the project to construct a 13km section of the Drazenci to Gruskovje highway. The total cost of the project is €303.4 million. New Senegal highway to connect major cities

A new highway in Senegal will connect the cities of Touba and Thiès. Construction work for the 113km highway is being financed by China. This being supplied under a 25 year loan in a package worth some US$704.86 million. The tolled highway is being built by China Road and Bridge Corporation). Funding worth US$1.54 billion is helping to finance a series of infrastructure projects in New Zealand. Some $980 million will help pay for the half-tunnelled 4.8km Waterview Connection. A further $350 million is being used for the widening of a 10km stretch from St Lukes Rd interchange to Lincoln Rd. New UK motorway link under construction

Construction of a new junction on the M1 near Dunstable in Bedfordshire is starting in the UK. The new junction, junction 11A, is located just to the south of Toddington services and forms part of a new €225 million link road between the A5 and the M1 that will help to unlock growth and reduce congestion in the area. Work on the link road began in March.
New Bolivian highway programme planned

Bolivia's state-owned road operator Administradora Boliviana de Carreteras (ABC) has an ambitious road building programme. This will see the construction of a further 3,172km of roads, of which almost 1,000km will be completed in 2015. The 1,000km of roads on track for completion comprise some 16 projects in seven departments. ABC has budgeted US$1.17 billion for its programme of works, an increase over the $995.4 million for the previous financial year.
