Steel for Loch Ba bridge

Allerton Steel, on behalf of R J McLeod, has fabricated the steelwork for a replacement bridge at Loch Ba on Rannoch Moor in the Highlands as part of its A82 upgrade scheme for Transport Scotland. R J McLeod is the civil contractor on the £2.2 million (E2.6 million) scheme which replaces the existing three-span reinforced concrete bridge.

Danish company DELTA has been highlighting its new mobile retrometer, the LTL-M, which will measure line width and other geometry properties and also be able to monitor defective or missing road pavement markers. Measuring the retroreflectivity of road markings is essential to ensure high visibility, and thus traffic safety. A new bridge is being constructed across the Vistula River near Grudzi?dz, Poland, and for the foreland bridge from south-east direction, a so-called incremental launching method is being used. Two lanes, each some 556m long, are being constructed in 25 concreting cycles with standard lengths of 24m, while the formwork is 25m long and is positioned behind the bridge abutments.

A Hanson quarry in Spain is now benefiting from the installation of lining plates in its crushing plant. The J Riera, Llinar del Valles Quarry in Catalonia is using WT6000 linings supplied by Sandvik in the plant's primary hopper.
