MAN boosts truck mixer payload
April 12, 2016
MAN has introduced a new design of hypoid tandem axle for payload-sensitive transport tasks, such as cement haulage. Shown on its TGS truck mixer chassis, the new axle design weighs in at approximately 280kg lighter than a conventional planetary axle, equating to greater payload potential. The four-axle MAN TGS 32.400 8x4 BB is specially designed for this purpose – it uses a weight optimised frame made of high-strength steel, a 298kW engine combined with the MAN TipMatic automated gearbox, and aluminium
Indeco breaker technology cuts costs by 20%
April 12, 2016
Hydraulic breaker specialist Indeco has developed new fuel-saving technology for its entire range of breakers. Compared to other breakers of the same size and capacity, Indeco’s can now deliver fuel savings of around 20%. “If you consider quarrying, by far the biggest cost is the fuel that the excavator consumes. If you can reduce the fuel used, you reduce your overall cost of production significantly,” said Indeco’s marketing director Michele Vitulano. “Reducing fuel consumption is also important for ro
Cummins drops EGR to meet EU Stage V emissions
April 12, 2016
Cummins has revealed a new generation of ultra-low emission diesel engines that have been engineered to meet forthcoming EU Stage V emissions regulations. The engines include F3.8, B4.5, B6.7 and L9 variants with capacities from 3.8-9litre and spanning 75-321kW. Importantly, all have ditched EGR, creating a mechanically simpler package that delivers more power, more torque and lower fluid consumption, said Cummins - while maintaining the same capacity as the engines they replace. “Removing EGR allowed us
MAN reveals EU Stage V engine solution
April 12, 2016
MAN has revealed two new ranges of off-highway engines that are said to lay the foundation of its EU Stage V emissions regulation strategy. The two ranges include a six-cylinder 15.26 litre engine offering outputs from 415-485kW and a larger 24.24 litre V12 engine with power outputs from 588-816kW. Both meet Tier 4 Final/EU Stage IV emissions and are also said to be EU Stage V ready. The six-cylinder engine, badged D3876 LE12x, uses variable geometry turbocharging and a 2,500 bar fuel injection pressure to
