Sakai’s latest soil compactors offer increased performance

2624 Sakai America is introducing three new soil compactors at CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2017, which all meet Tier 4 Final emissions legislation. The SV504T, SV414TF and SV544 offer increased performance and capabilities over earlier generation models as well as improved safety features.

The SV504T weighs from 4.7-5.45tonnes, depending on specification, and has a vibration rate of 1,800vpm from its drum, while power comes from a 3.3litre Kubota diesel and the machine is being imported from Japan.

Production of the SV414TF and SV544 will commence shortly at the firm’s facility in Georgia, with power from Cummins QSF2.8 and QSF3.8 diesels respectively. These machines replace the earlier SV412 and SV540 respectively. High comfort and safety is claimed for all three machines, with the operator station isolated to reduce vibration and elevated exhaust pipes to ensure effective fumes removal. Varying drum vibration rates are offered on the 8.4tonne class SV414TF, including high frequency settings as well as a choice of two amplitudes, while the machine also has Sakai’s novel proprietary drive system.

Stricter emissions legislation mean that new engine technology and integrated drivetrain systems are being developed. With the Tier 3/Stage IIIA emissions legislation now in place in North America and Europe, the major engine manufacturers already have an array of solutions on the market. The coming Tier 4 interim/Stage IIIB legislation will be tougher still and most firms are well in hand with their plans to use both in-cylinder and exhaust after-treatment technology. While engines themselves are staying b
