Novel drainage solution from REHAU

A novel drainage solution called the RAUSIKKO high load box system has been developed by REHAU.

This system allows rainater to drain away to a separate spot rather into the localised area. The system can be used in applications with space constraints and suits duties in the parking areas and access roads around buildings. The system can be covered over with a road surface and then is strong enough to handle the passage of heavy vehicles.

The idea of the system is to prevent flooding close to buildings and allowing the water to be carried away elsewhere to a point where it can be disposed of without problems. The units can be laid in a trench, lined with a geomembrane and even in the event of heavy rainfall, will allow the water to be contained and channelled safely away.

At what point does ‘some technology’ become ‘enough technology’? Less than four years ago industry publications were filled with a persistent message, the reluctance of UK based contractors to adopt machine control to the same extent as near European neighbours, particularly close ones such as Ireland and Holland. However from 2009 onwards we have seen a huge shift in demand for machine control as the success of high profile road and rail jobs such as the M25 widening scheme and Airdrie – Bathgate rail

Upgrading a key route through Florida – novel construction techniques are helping widen a road in difficult geological conditions – Lucio Garofalo reports. A major road widening project underway in Florida is due for completion soon. The work will improve an important section of road, reducing congestion at peak period and cutting travel times for drivers. The US 331/SR83 highway runs for some 79km and provides an important link in Florida’s Panhandle area, as it connects with Route 98.

Solutions for Tier 4 Final emissions regulations dominated Conexpo 2014, with many firms showing off their options of DOC, DPF and SCR after-treatments. Deutz, while staying with an SCR-only solution, took a more unusual approach on its high horsepower V6 12litre and V8 16litre engines. Both get a dual SCR after treatment system to meet Tier 4 Final emission standards.
