Hatz Diesel reduces frictional losses and boosts fuel efficiency

Hatz has boosted diesel engine efficiency with an all-new four-cylinder 2litre platform that combines low weight with low fuel consumption and meets Tier 4 Final/Stage IV emissions regulations without the need for a DPF. Called the 4H50TIC, the new engine uses two-valve cylinder head design to cut frictional losses, while opting for lower injection pressures of 1,800bar to contribute towards improved fuel efficiency.
Lombardini boosts KDi engine output towards 100kW

Torgnum Group used bauma 2013 to reveal its new MTU 1600 Series engine platform, developed specifically for off-highway use, that meets EPA Tier 4 Final emissions requirements. Bonfiglioli has developed an electric drum drive for the new hybrid truck mixer from CIFA, the concrete equipment specialist owned by Chinese manufacturer Zoomlion. ZF looks to combine hybrid module with cPower CVT transmission

ZF used bauma 2013 to show the next stage of development for its cPower continuously variable transmission (CVT). By combining the transmission with a hybrid module, ZF said greater operating efficiencies were available from the integration of start/stop technology and energy recovery from regenerative braking. Potentially, the hybrid drive system has the ability to boost fuel efficiency by up to 25% in addition to the 20% higher operating efficiency already offered by the cPower transmission, said ZF.

The Cummins Engine stand this year’s Bauma will be dominated by one of the largest engines at the show, alongside one of the smallest. Perkins will showcase a complete line-up of Stage IV/Tier 4 Final engine solutions at Bauma, ahead of the new legislation next year. The four cylinder 854F-E34TA will demonstrate much of the technology on offer, as it uses Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) with an exhaust additive, plus a Diesel Oxidation Catalyst (DOC). Both Perkins’ 3.4 and 4.4-litre engine lines make do without a Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF), though the larger 7 litre will use a DPF as well.

Kubota announces new Chinese diesel engine factory in Wuxi City

Japanese engine manufacturer Kubota will use Bauma to announce its plan to build another engine plant in Wuxi City, China for the production of vertical-shaft diesel engines. This facility has 18,000 m2 of manufacturing space and will be a fully-owned subsidiary of Kubota China Holdings Co. Production levels will reach 97,000 engines a year and operations start in 2014. Once opened, Kubota will have 6 manufacturing plants around the world for diesel engines.
