2304 ZF used Conexpo to reveal a production-ready version of its NMV pto gear drive system. Mounted between the engine and transmission of a vehicle, the NMV assembly allows an auxiliary mechanical drive to be engaged without having to the run the driveline through a transmission.

As a result, the NMV system can be used for high torque applications – typically up to 2,000Nm – to operate concrete pumps, mobile cranes and road sweeping equipment, said the company. Auxiliary power can be accessed with the vehicle moving or stationary, said ZF.

By not having to run the driveline through a vehicle transmission, fuel efficiency gains are also available. An NMV pto drive system was shown at the event on Grove Cranes’ latest GMK6400 model.
