The work on the construction of the next stretch of the A100 motorway in Berlin, Germany, is about to start. The project is expected to cost €473 million (US$616.72mn) and be completed by 2020.
Work has started on a €10 million expansion of Wacker Neuson’s light equipment production site in the Bavarian town of Reichertshofen, near Munich, southern Germany. The result with be a new R&D centre for light equipment that is set to open early next year. A silver-spade ceremony was held on April 22, 2016, and the first employees will be moving into the four-story administration building and test hall by the end of the year.
Further delays to the planned Fehmarn Belt Fixed Link between Germany and Denmark appear likely because of objections to the project during the planning stages, Danish media reported.
Government authorities in the German state of Schleswig-Holstein indicated that permission for the project, which focusses on a 17km immersed road and rail tunnel, will probably be given in 2017, and not next year as previously believed.

The design contract for Ireland’s Cork to Limerick motorway connection has now been awarded. The design package is worth €15 million and is being handled jointly by Irish firm JB Barry Transportation, Swedish company Sweco and WSP based in Canada. Building the 100km stretch of the M20 motorway is expected to cost €900 million, including eight major bridges over rivers, 44 smaller bridges over roads and two bridges over rail links. Costa Rica will start construction of the Circunvalacion Norte, the northern ring road in the capital San Jose by the end of September. A new 5.8km road linking La Uruca and the Santo Tomas junction will be built as part of the project, according to the Ministry of Public Works and Transports. Work will be carried out in five different phases over 28 months.
