Work has begun on the Long Van-Long My road in Vietnam's Binh Dinh province. The US $47.71 million project (VND 995bn), due for completion in 2015, will create a 7km road connecting National Highways 1D and 1A in Quy Nhon town.

Work has begun on the Long Van-Long My road in Vietnam's Binh Dinh province.
The US $47.71 million project (VND 995bn), due for completion in 2015, will create a 7km road connecting National Highways 1D and 1A in Quy Nhon town.
The government of Hunan Province, China plans to create more than 1,000kms of extra highway in the province as part of a US$27.32 billion (CNY 170bn) investment in 176 mostly infrastructure projects in 2013. The huge highway infrastructure expansion, which will see the construction of 37 new highways, will increase the 3,969km of province highway as of 2012 by more than 25%. Of the 37 highways, works on 14 of them are targeted to be wrapped up in 2013.
A new tunnel will connect the coastal town of Rize with Erzurum in Turkey. The 14.3km Ovit Tunnel is costing US$270.3 million to construct and is due to open to traffic in 2016. Opening the tunnel will reduce the journey time between Rize and Erzurum as the new route will cut the distance from 250-200km. The new route will also provide greater safety for drivers, particularly in winter time as conditions along the existing route can be difficult. So far around 12km of the tunnel has been constructed.

The Nepalese Government has announced a major programme of transport infrastructure works for the 2014-2015 period. Road, highway and airport projects have all been prioritised. The detailed project report for the Kathmandu-Tarai Fast Track Road is to be completed within six months. The proposal aims to attract investors by guaranteeing a minimum number of vehicles using the tolled link. The project has been delayed due funding issues. This period will also see work being carried out the Mid-Hills Highway,
