Work has begun on the Long Van-Long My road in Vietnam's Binh Dinh province. The US $47.71 million project (VND 995bn), due for completion in 2015, will create a 7km road connecting National Highways 1D and 1A in Quy Nhon town.

Work has begun on the Long Van-Long My road in Vietnam's Binh Dinh province.
The US $47.71 million project (VND 995bn), due for completion in 2015, will create a 7km road connecting National Highways 1D and 1A in Quy Nhon town.
A new expressway project is gathering momentum in Vietnam with approvals being given for the link between Moc Chau and Hoa Binh. The authorities are considering implementting the project under the PPP model. Building the 85km link is expected to cost US$955.5 million and the work will help reduce congestion on the existing National Highway No6. The work will face some challenges as the topography between Moc Chau and Hoa Binh is hilly. The new route will allow vehicle speeds of up to 80km/h.
Plans are being drawn up in Laos for the new highway connecting its capital Vientiane with Hanoi, the capital of neighbouring Vietnam. The project is expected to cost in excess of US$4.5 billion, with much of the Laos section of the route running parallel to the existing Road N0 13 South.
Construction of Vietnam’s North-South expressway is planned to commence during 2019. An initial funding package of US$600 million will pay for the start of the works, which includes buying the land and clearing the way for the route. The winners of the tenders for the first sections should be announced in April-June 2019, with these sections due for completion in 2021. The winners of the tenders for a bridge section on the route should be announced in October 2019, with the bridge due for completion in 2022
