Volgograd authorities to allot over US$231 million for roads in 2013
The Volgograd region (South) authorities will allot over US$231 million (RUB 7bn) for roads in 2013. A total of $82.64 million will be provided for construction, about $92.56 million for repairing and maintaining regional road facilities.

The Volgograd region (South) authorities will allot over US$231 million (RUB 7bn) for roads in 2013. A total of $82.64 million will be provided for construction, about $92.56 million for repairing and maintaining regional road facilities.
A reported 90% of Ukraine's 169,000kms of roads require major repairs at a minimum cost of US$55.49 billion (UAH 450bn), according to the advisor of the head of Ukravtodor state agency Engeniy Prusenko. The budget of the state program for motor road development in 2013-2018, approved by the Ukrainian cabinet of ministers in September 2012, amounts to UAH 264bn. Highways construction and renovation projects valued at €347.2 million (RUB 15.19 billion) will be carried out in Moscow’s new southwest territories under the Russian capital's targeted investment programme. The Hungarian national road management firm Magyar Kozut (MK) began road upgrade projects worth US$ 171.38 million (HUF 38bn) in 2012. The upgraded highways covered a total length of 360km. Development projects were carried out in line with the country's Regional Development Operational Programme (ROP) as part of Hungary's New Szechenyi Plan (USZT). Meanwhile, it has also been revealed that around $496.78 million (HUF 110bn) has been allocated for road renovation works in total by the end of 2013.
Shaanxi province in China saw a US$1.34 billion (CNY 8.20bn) investment in highway projects in the first six months of 2013, representing 58.6% of the total planned investment of $2.26 billion (CNY 14bn) for the whole of 2013. This year, Shaanxi province authorities aim to start seven highway projects stretching over 565km and continue the construction of nine highways with a total length of 559km.
