Elevated highways stretching 34.5km in Vietnam's Ho Chi Minh City may be developed at US$2.68 billion. The Prime Minister and the Ministry of Transport are tweaking the project in a move to lure investors. None have come forward at present.
A €150 million budget has been set aside by the Moldavian Ministry of Transport and Road Infrastructure for upgrades to 200km of the country’s major highway links. The funding is coming in the shape of a loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). In addition the US Government’s Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) is investing a further US$132 million in its Moldovan Compact agreement. A series of tenders are opening for Vietnam’s landmark North-South Expressway project. Eight sections of the route are being opened for bidding, with these being planned under the build-operate-transfer model. Financing for these eight stretches will be provided by a combination of bank loans, private investors and government funding. The winning bids should be revealed in early 2020. In all the North-South Expressway is expected to cost nearly US$4.3 billion.
India’s federal government has sanctioned the construction or upgrading of 2,500km of national level roads in Telangana state.
Work should include another ring road around the capital Hyderabad, according to a report in the Times of India newspaper.
The head of the state government, chief minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, said state planning officials will need to come up with a detailed forward plan for transportation in the new state. Rao has held office since Telangana was carved out of Andhra Prades
