US$7.6bn spent on new Polish roads

PLN 26.4billion (US$7.6billion) was spent on new roads in Poland in 2011, according to a report prepared by the Polish General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways (GDDKiA). The investment resulted in the construction of 205.5km of motorways and 62.2km of dual carriageways.

PLN 26.4billion (US$7.6billion) was spent on new roads in Poland in 2011, according to a report prepared by the 3519 Polish General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways (GDDKiA). The investment resulted in the construction of 205.5km of motorways and 62.2km of dual carriageways. The value of road tenders which were resolved in 2011 reached PLN 8billion (US$ 2.32billion), while the value of 3287 EU funds exceeded PLN 10billion (US$2.9billion).

    Strabag consortium has won a tender for the construction of a 4.5km S7 dual carriageway section in the eastern part of Krakow, Poland. The investment will also include the construction of a bridge over the Vistula River.
