Two major highway projects are now moving forward in China, with one connecting Guangdong Province with Guangzhou Province and the other lcoated in Yunnan Province. The second stage of Guangzhou-Foshan-Zhaoqing highway project will provide an improved link between Guangdong Province and Guangzhou Province and work will commence at the end of 2015. A reported 90% of Ukraine's 169,000kms of roads require major repairs at a minimum cost of US$55.49 billion (UAH 450bn), according to the advisor of the head of Ukravtodor state agency Engeniy Prusenko. China’s Liaoning Province is expanding its highway network with a programme of upgrades and new construction. By the end of 2015 Liaoning Province will have up to 4,500km of highways. The province is building some 2,600km of highways for the 2011-2015 period. In all there will be 20 new highways, with the work costing US$14.36 billion in all. The authorities in the province are also spending $17.5 billion on road development during the 2011-2015 period.
