A total of US$1.89billion (CNY 11.97bn) has been allocated to build 51.47km of highways across the city of Shijiazhuang in Hebei Province, China.
The feasibility report for the plan was recently approved by provincial authorities.
Work is now commencing on a new highway megaproject in China. The 204km highway will be built in China’s Hebei Province and will cost around US$4.09 billion to construct.
A US$557.15 million (CNY 3.45bn) project to build Shenzhen, China’s longest tunnel will start before the end of this year. Due for completion in 2015, the 7.5km tunnel will connect Yantian District and the Pingshan New Area. The Pingyan Passage connecting the two areas will have two flyovers and three bridges, including the tunnel. An 80km/h speed limit will be imposed on the six-lane route. China's Ministry for Transport reveals that it beat its target for upgrading rural roads during 2009. Some 381,000km of rural roads were improved, beating the target of 300,000km by a considerable margin.
