The Austrian group 945 Strabag has been awarded a two-year contract worth €34.6mn for the modernisation of a 48km stretch of the national road M2 in the Republic of Moldova. The upgrade route runs between Ghindesti and Drochia.
In Russia the construction firms Hanty-Mansiyskdorstroy and Volgomost are working on contracts to rebuild the important M5 highway. This route lies motorway in the Republic of Bashkortostan (Volga) and is managed by Samara-Ufa-Chelyabinsk. Hanty-Mansiyskdorstroy’s contract is to rebuild a 15km stretch of the highway and is worth US$128.16 million, with the work due for completion by October 2016. Odebrecht has been awarded a concession for Brazil’s important BR-163 federal highway route. The 851km section of highway runs through Mato Grosso state and the deal is worth some US$2 billion, according to a report by Business News Americas. As part of its contract, Odebrecht will have to widen a 454km stretch of the route within five years and is also required to build nine new toll booths.
