The Austrian group 945 Strabag has been awarded a two-year contract worth €34.6mn for the modernisation of a 48km stretch of the national road M2 in the Republic of Moldova. The upgrade route runs between Ghindesti and Drochia.
The Ethiopian Roads Authority has awarded a contract worth at least US$149.77 million (ETB 2.8bn) for a road upgrade to two China-based firms, with works due to be wrapped up in 36 months. Under the deal, the two companies are to upgrade a 133km road between the districts of Mille and Kombolcha from gravel to asphalt-concrete roads. Money for the works is being sourced from a loan extended by the World Bank.
Work to improve a section of the busy A12 Inntal highway in Austrian Tyrol, Austria, has been carried out by contractor Strabag. The A12 is one of Austria’s busiest highways and carries heavy traffic volumes, particularly in summer when it is an important holiday route through to Southern Europe. The heavy traffic volumes mean that the road has to withstand high stresses. The Brixlegg branch of Strabag carried out a surface renovation contract on the 5.5km stretch between Kundl and Radfield and focussed on
Bosnia’ public roads authority Autoceste FB&H has re-tendered for construction of 12km of the Pocitelj-Zvirovici part of the Corridor 5C motorway.
The work, including the 945m Pocitelj Bridge, is worth around €100million with financing by the European Investment Bank (EIB).
A previous tender was called in 2014 when the contract has been awarded to Strabag and Euroasfalt companies, in spite of better offers from Viadukt and Hering, according to media reports.
