The Austrian group 945 Strabag has been awarded a two-year contract worth €34.6mn for the modernisation of a 48km stretch of the national road M2 in the Republic of Moldova. The upgrade route runs between Ghindesti and Drochia.
Strabag subsidiary Züblin has been awarded the €73 million contract to build a 700 metre section of the A 100 urban motorway in Berlin, Germany.
Situated at Sonnenallee Junction, the works will see Züblin not only construct a new dual-track commuter rail bridge and a single-track long-distance railway bridge, each with 68m spans; but also set up diaphragm walls, establish underwater concrete floors, install uplift and pit lining anchors, and drive the sheet piling and bored piles. STRABAG will handle the contract to widen Austria’s A1 highway in Austria between Matzleinsdorf and Pöchlarn. The €22 million contract involves widening to three lanes and has a scheduled completion date of May 2018. The contract also includes widening eight bridges along the 5.1km section. Construction work is now underway on the project.
Italian civil engineering company Impregilo, through Poland-based subsidiary Salini Polska, and Polish firm Kobylarnia has been awarded a US$341.2 million (€250mn) contract to build a stretch of Poland’s A1 motorway. The near 75km route will link the towns of Torun and Strykow, and is expected to be completed within a year.
