Chinese contractor 5544 Sinohydro is to start a road construction project in Moldova worth €48 million. It is likely to be the first of several Chinese companies to carry out work in the country.
Construction work is due to start on the expressway project connecting Busega with Mpigi in Uganda. The contract was awarded to the Chinese construction firms China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) and China Railway 19th Bureau Group Company Limited. The companies have established a joint venture partnership to handle the work. The project is costing around US$147 million and the 24km expressway should take around three years to build. Cambodia is continuing with the construction of a key highway project. Work is now underway on building National Road No58. The project has been by a number of Chinese companies, which are investing some US$122 million into the 174km road. The new road will link Samrong city in Uddor Meanchey Province with Poipet City in Banteay Meanchey Province. Key road construction projects are now moving forward in Bosnia with work on-track for the Sarajevo ringroad as well as the Corridor Vc highway.
