Spanish firms interested in US$740mn Chile bridge project

Spanish companies Sacyr, ACS and OHL will take part in three of the consortia that will bid in the US$740 million contract to build the longest suspension bridge in Chile. Works for the 2.5km Chacao Bridge, connecting the island of Chiloe and Chile's coast line, are expected to be awarded during the first quarter of 2014, with construction due to begin in 2015.

Spanish companies 3959 Sacyr, 917 ACS and 980 OHL will take part in three of the consortia that will bid in the US$740 million contract to build the longest suspension bridge in Chile.

Works for the 2.5km Chacao Bridge, connecting the island of Chiloe and Chile's coast line, are expected to be awarded during the first quarter of 2014, with construction due to begin in 2015.

Sacyr has formed a consortium with Samsung C&T Corporation and 3220 Parsons Transportation; ACS through subsidiary 981 Hochtief, has joined forces with 5177 Vinci, Constructora VCGP Chile, and 1021 American Bridge Company; and OHL has formed a consortium with Engineering & Construction and 2579 Mott MacDonald. The five international consortium bidding for the project are led by 3149 Impregilo; 890 China Railway Group; 3366 China Road and Bridge Corporation; 1324 Astaldi; and 1511 OAS of Brazil.
