3482 Vahostav-SK will carry out work on a 16km section of the D1 highway near Martin and Vrutky in neighbouring Slovakia in a deal worth €137 million. The €115 million contract is for the Presov section linking Bratislava with Kosice.
Slovakia has opened the 9.5km Levoca bypass, nearly completing the northern part of the D1 cross-country motorway. The remaining section between Bratislava and Kosice is expected to be open around 2020, with the Zilina, Presov and Ruzomberok bypasses yet to be built.
The newly opened section of Janovce - Jablonov II includes the 600m tunnel Sibenik, as well as a slip road to Levoca and 12 road bridges.

Work on several new highways being built in Slovakia as public-private partnerships (PPPs) will be delayed by six to 12 months. This means that the first sections of the Martin-Presov link will not open before 2011. The last section is expected to be completed in either late 2012 or early 2013.
Slovakia’s national motorway company NDS has put out to tender two sections of the D1 motorway near Presov and Kosice.
Both tenders have been published in the Official Journal of the European Union, with bid submission deadlines set for June 29.
The first section is the south-west D1 by-pass of Presov at nearly 8km long, including the construction of a 2km duel-tube road tunnel Presov and estimated to cost €443.4 million.
