Spain's road maintenance deficit has now reached €8.6 billion in the period since 2005, according to road maintenance companies. The industry has now asked the authorities to invest 2.5% of the roads value on maintenance to take up the shortfall. Gateway WA Alliance consortium, led by Leighton Contractors, has reached agreement with Main Roads WA on the price, scope and construction methodology for the US$896.07 million (AUD1 billion) Gateway WA Perth Airport and Freight Access Project. Plans are now being drawn up for a series of projects that will form part of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). Four road projects worth over US$3.32 billion have been added to the CPEC programme. The Chinese Government is now in agreement with the plans for the CPEC. One of the new roads being built will run from Naukundi, through Mashkel and to Panjgur. The road will join National highway N-40 with CPEC Route N-85, and the Zhob-Kuchlak route. Strong interest from a wide array of contractors has been shown in the project to construct the Chacao Bridge in Chile. In all some 47 sets of terms and conditions have been sold in the pre-qualification process for the tender to design and construct the Chacao Bridge.
