5872 Sibmost and the Automobile Roads Department of the Krasnoyarsk Region have signed a US$371.07million (RR12billion) contract to construct the first phase of the fourth highway bridge in Krasnoyarsk, Siberia.
Some US$189.2 million is being budgeted by the authorities for 2013 in the Irkutsk Region of Siberia for road repairs and maintenance, as well as new construction. This represents an increase of 12% from the 2012 budget. Key improvements include replacing gravel on federal highways and also building bypasses around some of the major urban areas in the region.
An environmental impact assessment and feasibility studies will be carried out on the first phase of the proposed Northern Expressway in Sri Lanka. The earmarked key highway route will link Colombo with Jaffna in the north of the country. Phase one of the project will cost an estimated US$ 1billion.
A series of major transport projects worth a combined value of over US$28 billion are set to significantly enhance connectivity between various parts of Russia. These include the Moscow-St Petersburg highway, work to the transport system in the Rostov region and two new bridges: one over the Belaya river in Ufa, the other over the Kama river in Izhevsk.
