The new ringroad around Novi Sad in Serbia is now open to traffic. The 8.5km link forms part of the E75 Novi Sad-Belgrade highway. Construction is estimated to have cost some €102 million and included rebuilding the Beska Bridge. Funding was provided by the 1054 European Investment Bank (EIB). In all some €207 million has been spent in the 2006-2010 rebuilding 2,000 roads in Serbia.

    In Romania, modernisation of capital Bucharest’s ring road is now due for completion in 2012. The delay has been caused by a lack of funds. Upgrading of the sections between DN7 and DN1A and DN1A (Mogosoaia)and DN1 (Otopeni) started in 2007 and some 51km have been improved so far.     Motorway operator Autopista Central de Chile (AC) has applied to the Ministry of Public Works to make improvements worth around US$340 million to the Autopista Central system in the capital Santiago.
