Serbia Corridor 11 motorway works due to begin in March 2013

Miodrag Jocic, State Secretary from the Serbian Ministry of Construction, , said the Chinese company 3034 Shandong Hi-Speed Group (SHSG) will begin construction of Serbia’s new Corridor 11 motorway in March 2013.

The Lajkovac-Ljig section of the project is said by Jocic to be completely ready for construction. The overall project value is estimated at US$333 million. Jocic said that the parts between Surcinska Petlja to Obrenovac in Belgrade, and from Preljina to Pozega will be most likely financed with a concession.

Meanwhile, the Belgrade-Pozega 150km road will be completed within three years. Among the domestic companies that will participate in the works are Hidrotehnika, Planum, and Energoprojekt. The project will be financed from an already approved Chinese loan at the interest rate of 2.5%.

Azerbaijan's company 5414 Azvirt will participate in construction of the Ljig-Preljina motorway, while Serbian domestic firms will build the Ub-Lajkovac part.
