The authorities in Saudi Arabia plan to increase spending on roads and highways during 2011. The new plan is evaluating the construction of an additional 2,100km of new roads. At present the 1057 Saudi Arabia Transport Ministry has set out plans to improve and upgrade 30,200km of existing roads and the intended 6,600km of new road construction will require additional investment. US$3.01 billion will be required for the current plans but this will have to be increased to finance any additional work.

    A series of major highway construction and road repair projects is planned for Serbia. The World Bank (WB), the European Investment Bank (EIB) and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) have all been in talks with the Serbian Government concerning funding for the work.
