Romanian road development continues

The Romanian road authorities are trying hard to get the country's network improvement plans back on track. The National Roads and Highways Company (2870 CNADNR) has recently signed a further five new contracts for the construction of highway segments. These will form part of the Pan-European Corridor IV and the total value of the deals is close to €693 million, including VAT. A consortium formed by Spedition UMB-Tehnostrade-Carena Impresa di Costruzioni was awarded a contract worth nearly €64 million to build a 10km segment of the Timisoara-Lugoj highway. Romstrade-2753 Monte Adriano Engenharia e Construcao-Donep Construct consortium won a contract worth €116 million to build a segment of the Nadlac-Arad highway. Another segment of this highway measuring 16.6km will be built by Austrian contractor Alpine Bau for €124.5 million. A consortium formed by Tirrena Scavi-Societa Italiana per Condotte d'Acqua-Cossi Construzioni will build the first segment of the Lugoj-Deva highway for €206 million. And Italian firm 3149 Impregilo was awarded a contract worth €183 million contract to build a segment of the Orastie-Sibiu highway.

    The authorities in Romania are launching the tender process for a new highway section. The country’s national roads and highways company,CNADNR, is handling the tenders for the project, which involves designing and building a 9km section of the Transilvania Highway between Gilau and Nadaselu in Cluj county. The deadline for ids is 21st March 2012. The project is expected to cost from €73 million to €80.3 million to construct.
