Povolzhupravtodor, a subsidiary of the Russian 2865 Federal Highway Agency, has announced a tender for major repairs of a 25km long section of Russia’s M5 Ural highway in the Samara area of Volga. The contract is estimated to be worth US $ 43.16 million.
Plans are in hand for major upgrades to Russia’s road network. Russian Highways (Avtodor) aims to construct 958km of roads, as well as to reconstruct 963km of road and improve 700km of road bed by 2019.
One of the largest construction programmes in Europe is being carried out to get a Russian resort ready for the Winter Olympics. Patrick Smith reports.
