Povolzhupravtodor, a subsidiary of the Russian 2865 Federal Highway Agency, has announced a tender for major repairs of a 25km long section of Russia’s M5 Ural highway in the Samara area of Volga. The contract is estimated to be worth US $ 43.16 million.
The authorities in Russia’s Urals region are approving a programme that will see major investment in infrastructure. Some US$3.91 billion will be invested in roads as well as communications, and information technologies between the present and 2020. The transport plans will see 225.4km of roads being rebuilt and improved as well as works to repair and maintain 27 bridges.
A series of major road projects are planned for various parts of Russia that will improve connectivity. These include the Moscow-St Petersburg highway, work to the transportation system in the Rostov region and a new bridge over the Belaya River in Ufa. The tender process for the contract to build, maintain, repair, and operate a section of the Moscow- St Petersburg highway has been announced by Avtodor. Plans are in hand for major upgrades to Russia’s road network. Russian Highways (Avtodor) aims to construct 958km of roads, as well as to reconstruct 963km of road and improve 700km of road bed by 2019.
The 684km M11 highway linking Moscow with St Petersburg is the top-priority. A 72km bypass road will be built in the Tver region.
