Rebuild of Azerbaijan highways estimated to cost over US$38.2bn

Reconstruction of all Azerbaijan’s highways will cost at least US$38.2billion (AZN 30bn), according to the national ministry of transport. The overall length of highways across the country is 20,000km, with reconstruction works predicted to take up to 15 years.

    A minimum of US $ 14.08 billion out of an overall Philippines public investment need of $ 16.79 billion has reportedly been earmarked by the Government for highways projects. Goals have been set by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to enlarge 12,236m of current bridges, mend national bridges measuring 58,592m, to replace broken bridges covering 19,725m, and to lay new bridges with a combined length of 18,255m.

    Azerbaijan managed to rebuild and maintain 1,335km of its road network during 2017. Around 314km of key national road links were improved, along with 889km of local roads. In the capital, Baku, 133km of roads were built or improved. The programme also included the construction of 15 bridges as well as repairs works to a further nine. For 2018 Azerbaijan intends to make improvements to 2,000km of existing road links.
  • Highway work planned for Serbia

    A series of major highway construction and road repair projects is planned for Serbia. The World Bank (WB), the European Investment Bank (EIB) and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) have all been in talks with the Serbian Government concerning funding for the work. Funding worth €408.46 million has been approved by the three banks for programme of highway construction and road repairs.
