PERI’s successful VARIOKIT formwork as cantilever equipment will be showcased at bauma
298 PERI’s VARIOKIT engineering construction kit, being showcased at 688 Bauma, is said by the German firm to have already provided cost-effective and flexible solutions for superstructures for several years.

From project-specific solutions for tunnels, to system applications in bridge construction and heavy-duty towers for the highest loads, VARIOKIT is extremely adaptable.

Now it can also be used for the balanced cantilever method with a few additional, newly developed system components.

The new components for the longitudinal direction of the cantilever equipment facilitate concreting of segments up to 5.75m in length, said to be state-of-the-art in terms of current methods. Existing system components of the engineering construction kit are used in the lateral direction, while PERI claims to have achieved maximum adaptability for different bridge cross-sections, resulting in cantilever equipment with high flexibility for shaping the bridge cross-section, with the added benefit of being simple to use.

PERI says the re-positioning process for the next stage of concreting has been made extremely user-friendly, due to a new kind of mechanism said to require little extra manual work. All system parts with the exception of anchoring equipment are available to rent from PERI, said to make cantilever construction very cost-effective. Moreover, all components can be used on further projects with no additional work – a claimed major advantage even for different kinds of engineering works. The supply of carriages and formwork from one place is among other claimed advantages of using PERI’s VARIOKIT as cantilever equipment.

PERI developers are said to have ensured VARIOKIT engineering construction kit is easily compatible with other PERI systems, which means customers can use the PERI UP modular scaffolding for safe working platforms and access ways to all working levels. According to PERI, a site team in 2012 was able to achieve a four to five day cycle per concreting stage using the new cantilever equipment during construction of a motorway bridge in Poland.

Visitors to PERI’s bauma exhibition will also be able to see other new solutions for construction on cantilevered parapets. This includes a new cantilevered parapet bracket with lightweight individual parts and improved adaptability to the parapet geometry. There are also said to be system improvements for the cantilevered parapet carriage, which has many advantages for longer bridge structures.
