Oman’s crash risk a cause for concern

There is concern in Oman over the risk of crashes on the country’s road network. There were 545 road deaths in Oman during 2018. Road crashes are now one of the leading causes of death and serious injury in Oman. Of the 545 road deaths seen in 2018, 466 saw victims dying before they could be taken to hospital.

    Jamaica is seeing an improvement in road safety, with a reduction in casualty levels. So far in 2017, overall road deaths have been 49 less than in the same period during 2016. In all 25,845 people were killed in road crashes in the 28 nations of the EU during 2014. This represented a decrease of just 0.6% compared to 2013. EU member states now need to cut deaths by almost 8% each year until 2020 to meet the target set in 2010 to halve deaths within a decade.
