A Chinese contractor is to build a major expressway link in Nigeria. The contract is for a 15km section of highway. The work will be handled by 890 China Railway Construction.
Plans are now well in hand in China's Hebei and Zhejiang Provinces to build new highway connections and boost transport infrastructure. In Hebei Province a total of 12 highway projects worth an impressive US$9.66 billion will commence in 2011. These new highways will add a total of 852km to the network of the province. In addition, the authorities in Hebei Province are detailing additional plans to continue to develop the highway network with a target set of 6,762km in total by the end of 2015.
A new agreement has been signed that will improve transport links between West African nations. The agreement for the new Lagos Dakar highway has been made by the Economic Community of Western States (Cedeao). In all five memoranda of understanding (MoU) were signed by Cedeao with the Chinese construction and public works company CGCOC Group. These MoU encompass the trans-western African coastal highway, as well as telecoms infrastructure, local civil aviation, railway links and the construction of the new
Bulgaria has started work on a 12.6km section of Struma motorway between the southwestern towns of Blagoevgrad and Krupnik.
A consortium led by Bulgarian construction company Agromah is building the section under a contract worth just over €71 million, according to the regional development ministry.
