Mozambique’s road network is to receive international funding for various projects. The 304km road connecting Cuamba and Lichinga in Niassa province will be improved under the plan.
Foreign funding will help pay for key road rebuilding work in Rwanda. Loans worth US$162.4 million are being provided by the African Development Bank (AfDB) and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), with a $22 million development grant also coming from the EU. These financial sources will help pay for work to improve the 92km long link connecting Kayonza with Rusumo as well as the 116km road between Kagitumba and Kayonza. Two road construction projects have been awarded in Vientiane province, Laos. One, granted to Sekko Construction Company by the Public Works and Transport Department of Vientiane province, will be initially funded by Sekko and it will be repaid within ten years by the state. The US$19.05 million, 9.3km road will connect Nanin village of Vi engkham district with Thaxan village of Keo-oudom district.
