Massive highway project for Romania

The Romanian Transport Ministry has completed its plans for the Targu-Mures-Lasi highway, with final approval pending from the Romanian Government. The highway measures 289km long and is expected to take four years to construct and will cost some €8.71 billion in all.

The Romanian Transport Ministry has completed its plans for the Targu-Mures-Lasi highway, with final approval pending from the Romanian Government. The highway measures 289km long and is expected to take four years to construct and will cost some €8.71 billion in all. Because of its length the project has been divided into four separate sections: the 92km Targu Mures-Ditrau section; the 119km Ditrau-Targu Neamt stretch; the 78km Targu Neamt-Lasi section.

    The route for new tunnel links for Slovakia’s D1 highway has been agreed. New tunnels now look set to be built on the 13.5km stretch between Turany and Hubova section of the D1 highway. This plan calls for the construction of the Korbelka and Havran tunnels at an estimated cost of €900 million.     Serbia is planning to build the new Sumadijski Koridor motorway. The project is expected to cost €1.7 billion to €2 billion to build. Financing is being provided by the Serbian Government. The final alignment has yet to be determined but the route is expected to measure from 220km to 270km in length. The new highway will connect with other key road links and will be called the Vozd Karadjordje.
