A major new toll link will boost Indonesia’s transport connections

Construction work on the 13.6km Gempol Pandaan toll road in East Java is commencing. The US$174.5 million project will take 18 months to complete and is expected to open for traffic in the third quarter of 2013.
A key link road in Vietnam has been given the go ahead. The plan is for a new road to run from the Noi Bai - Lao Cai Highway to Sapa District. The construction project has been authorised by the People's Committee of Lao Cai Province in Vietnam. The 27km link road will be challenging to construct however as it will run through some of the country’s mountainous areas. The project will include building five viaducts and four flyovers crossing streams. The project is expected to cost close to US$115 million. T
A highly innovative bridge project is planned for Indonesia. A specialist firm from the Netherlands, Tidal Bridge, has been contracted to construct the new Pancasila Palmerah Bridge in East Nusa Tenggara. The project involves constructing a 1.3km suspension bridge that will span the Larantuka Strait and connect Flores with Adonara Island. Indonesian state construction firm Waskita Karya said it will be developing the US$2.7 billion Bali toll road project.
But the Ministry of Public Works and Housing has yet to approve the 157km project which is in the pre-feasibility study stage.

Argentina is planning two new highway projects to widen and improve key sections of Route 40 and Route 33. A US$291 million project will upgrade a stretch of the existing Route 40 to highway status. The two year project will see the widening of the road between Mendoza and San Juan and the construction work will start in the third quarter of 2017.
