A major new toll link will boost Indonesia’s transport connections
Construction work on the 13.6km Gempol Pandaan toll road in East Java is commencing. The US$174.5 million project will take 18 months to complete and is expected to open for traffic in the third quarter of 2013.

Construction work on the 13.6km Gempol Pandaan toll road in East Java is commencing. The US$174.5 million project will take 18 months to complete and is expected to open for traffic in the third quarter of 2013.
Two major new toll road projects are now in planning for Indonesia. One is for the Palembang-Indralaya toll project while the other is for the Soreang-Pasir Koja toll road. The South Sumatra provincial government believes that the Palembang-Indralaya toll road project will cost US$319.2 million, and feature a pay-back period of 18 years and 11 months. The Indonesian Government is continuing with its massive programme of toll road expansion work. Deals for a number of key projects have now been agreed, with the work costing a total of US$3.63 billion in all. Construction activity will see the development of these important routes. Several of the road projects are being carried out under the PPP model. These include a 30km link in Banten that will connect Serpong with Balaraja, a 37km road in East Java from Pandaan to Malang and a 99km road in East Kaliman
Work on Indonesia’s new Kartasura-Kebakkramat toll road is due for completion in 2014. The Public Works Ministry expects to complete the land acquisition process during this year. The budget for the project has not been disclosed so far. When it is complete, the 22km toll road project will connect with the Kertosono (East Java)-Surakarta (Central Java) toll road.
Indonesia continues to expand its toll road network, with major routes being built and opening to traffic. The toll road firm Jasa Marga will expand its network from 787km to 1,000km by the end of 2018. Four key sections of toll road will be complete at the end of 2018, linking Gempol and Pasuruan, Salatiga and Kartasura, Wilangan and Kertosono and Batang with Semarang.
