A series of major documentation issues are the cause of the problem. These have delayed projects for up to nine tenders on the total sum of US$2.6 billion (95 billion rubles), with anomalies having been found by the Russian Federal Anti-Monopoly Service.
Exports of U.S.-made construction equipment were up 13% to US$26.7 billion in 2012 compared to 2011, according to the Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) citing of U.S. Commerce Dept. data in global market reports for members. AEM noted that the 13% 2012 gain follows a 43% year-on-year growth in 2011, and 28% growth in 2010, after a deep recession decline of 38% in 2009. St Petersburg’s road building and repair projects could be valued at US $443.15 million (RUB 14.10bn) by the end of 2012, according to Russian daily newspaper Kommersant. The main contractors said to be bidding for projects are Mostostroy 6; Mostootrayd 19; Vozrozhdenie; Dorozhnik-92; VAD; Buer; ABZ Dorstroy; Pylon; Lendorstroy-2; and Akros.
