Kazan Mayor Ilsur Metshin said authorities would allocate US$263.14million to repair the city’s road network in 2012, compared to a total of $197.66million spent over the previous five years.
The east coast US city’s traffic management improvements to reduce fatalities on its main inner city artery, Atlantic Avenue, are not entirely welcome.
A series of transportation projects are in hand for Mindanao in the Philippines. The Philippines' Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA) has said that the Mindanao Development Corridors' major infrastructure component will cost some US$14.02 billion in all. Of the total, some $5.6 billion will be spent on airports, seaports and roads. MinDA intends that these projects will get underway out in the next two years, with work planned for completion in five years.

Kazakhstan has set a budget for road repairs of nearly US$167 million in a bid to ensure that its network remains in good condition. The country has set a target to repair and maintain around 5,000km of local roads/year. In 2017 around 2,000km of roads of national importance were repaired, while 1,800km of roads of national importance will be repaired in 2018. In all, 4,200km of roads will be repaired in Kazakhstan in 2018, according to the country's Ministry of Investment and Development.
Dutch road deaths have nearly halved in the last 15 years, according to new figures by the country’s central statistics bureau CBS. There were 661 road deaths in the Netherlands in 2011, down 47% from 1,251 in 1996. For passenger cars over the same period there was a 73.5% decrease in road fatalities, from 609 to 221.
