Kazakhstan's new link

A new four-lane highway will boost connectivity in the Astana-Petropavlovsk-Kurgan region. The project is due for completion in 2014. Kazakhstan will allot $1.21 billion for the project, which will improve transport links with neighbouring Russia and boost trade between the two countries.

    Tajikistan and Kazakhstan are both investing in transport infrastructure, with an array of new projects planned. In Tajikistan the Ministry of Finance is budgeting a healthy US$1.6 billion for transportation projects in the period from 2013-2014.
