€500 million of EU funds for Sicilian highways infrastructure
Sicilian regional authorities are to receive US$1.94 billion (€1.5bn) from the European Union to carry out highways and other infrastructure projects. Of the overall sum, €500 million is to be allocated to road systems and environment projects.

Sicilian regional authorities are to receive US$1.94 billion (€1.5bn) from the 1116 European Union to carry out highways and other infrastructure projects. Of the overall sum, €500 million is to be allocated to road systems and environment projects.
In China's Xinjiang region, the G30 Sailimu Lake-Wusu highway renovation and the Kashgar-Aksu highway construction projects have been approved by the regional authority. The 301km Sailimu Lake-Wusu highway renovation is scheduled for completion by the end of October 2013, following an investment of US $ 631.05 million.
Slovakia is benefiting from strong European investment in its transport infrastructure. For the 12 month period up until 30th September 2012, the country benefited from the use of EU funds worth €920.5 million. This amount was used for projects within the Operational Programme Transport (OPD) and came from the overall allocated sum of €3.12 billion. Plans are in hand for major upgrades to Russia’s road network. Russian Highways (Avtodor) aims to construct 958km of roads, as well as to reconstruct 963km of road and improve 700km of road bed by 2019.
The 684km M11 highway linking Moscow with St Petersburg is the top-priority. A 72km bypass road will be built in the Tver region.
