€500 million of EU funds for Sicilian highways infrastructure
Sicilian regional authorities are to receive US$1.94 billion (€1.5bn) from the European Union to carry out highways and other infrastructure projects. Of the overall sum, €500 million is to be allocated to road systems and environment projects.

Sicilian regional authorities are to receive US$1.94 billion (€1.5bn) from the 1116 European Union to carry out highways and other infrastructure projects. Of the overall sum, €500 million is to be allocated to road systems and environment projects.
Seven transport infrastructure projects, including new roads and upgraded highways, will be launched in Vietnam before the end of 2014 after a US$433.35 million (VND 9.2 trillion) Government investment.
The Ministry of Transport of Vietnam says a further 15 projects costing a combined VND 64.8 trillion will begin in 2015.
The 2014 projects include a VND 2.3 trillion road upgrade project in Ha Nam Province in early-October 2014, to be followed by the construction of a bridge between Thai Binh and Ha N
Plans are in hand for major upgrades to Russia’s road network. Russian Highways (Avtodor) aims to construct 958km of roads, as well as to reconstruct 963km of road and improve 700km of road bed by 2019. The European Union's TEN-T programme has allocated US$1.15 million for studies to upgrade for the last remaining section on the main motorway connecting Sweden and Denmark.
The 30km section, bypassing Ljungby in southern Sweden, is expected to increase driver safety, cut down on accidents and reduce travel time. Widening the road to motorway standard will eliminate a bottleneck, but the study will also consider ground protection and noise reduction measures.

Overall, Russia is to benefit from a major highway investment programme. The Federal Transport Development Programme will feature a budget of $21.5 billion for the 2010-2015 period. Some $15.1 billion is to be allocated for highway construction and repairs.
