Costly bridge link

Costs are climbing for the proposed new bridge to link Denmark and Germany. The structure is now expected to cost €282 million. This represents a significant increase from the €192 million estimated just 18 months ago. Meanwhile the cost of the environmental permit has also doubled.

    Construction of the Zezeljev rail and road bridge across the Danube River is facing further delays, according to the Serbian government.     A STUDY of highway construction costs in eight European countries highlights Austria as the most expensive. The report says that highways in Austria cost €12.87 million/km. The next most expensive country is Hungary at €11.21 million/km, followed by Slovakia at €9.56 million/km and then the Czech Republic at €8.86 million/km.
