Construction starts on Yichang section of China’s Yichang-Yueyang expressway

Construction works have begun on the Yichang section of China’s new Yichang-Yueyang expressway. Covering 51.8km, the Yichang expressway section will cost around US$613.35 million (CNY 3.82bn).
China’s northwest province of Shaanxi plans to increase its spending on highways by 22% to nearly US$8.9 billion, according to an official statement.
World Highways reported last year that Shaanxi was to spend nearly $5.8 billion in 2014.
Of the total, nearly $5.8 billion has been allocated for five highway construction projects totalling 261km.
Within 2015, there will be 600km of new highways in the province, raising the total highway length to over 5,000km by the end of 2015.

The Polish General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways – GDDKiA –reports that 14 bids have been received for construction of three sections of the S19 dual carriageway.
A consortium formed by Pizzarotti and Fundamental Infrastructure pitched the lowest bid for the Krasnik Poludnie - Janow Lubelski Polnoc section, amounting to nearly €80 million.

China’s Sichuan Province is working on a major programme of road development works that will help expand and improve the overall network. Worth an impressive US$26.3 billion in all, the programme includes 29 separate projects. The main focus of the works will be on eight expressways, which will extend for a total of 981km. Five of the expressways are being developed by the Sichuan Transportation Investment Group. These are for the G0615 Barkam to Jigzhi route, the Mianyang to Cangxi link, the Cangxi to Bazh
The RADOR association, the leading organisation for advocating, planning, financing, building and maintaining roads in Russia’s regions, estimates the country’s North-Western Federal District needs US$5.367 billion (RUB 161.8bn) for road network repair and maintenance every year. RADOR says that around 19.7% of required funding was provided for regional road maintenance in 2012, along with 41.4% of funding for road repairs, and 6.3% of funding for road overhaul. The Leningrad region received 25% (RUB 5.1bn)
