The contract for a major new expressway project in China has been won by a consortium. The Guizhou Jianhe-Liping Expressway should cost close to US$1.9 billion to build and take three years to construct. The group handling the work comprises CRRC Kunlun Investment Group Co and divisions of China Railway Construction Corporation Limited (CRCC). The Chinese Exim Bank is providing much of the funding for two highway projects in Macedonia. The construction work will be carried out by a Chinese contractor, which has signed a deal with the Macedonian Government. The Chinese Sinohydro Corporation will build two stretches of highway linking Kicevo-Ohrid and Miladinovci-Stip. These will measure 56.7km and 53km long, respectively. China’s Guizhou Province is developing its transport infrastructure with a major programme of works being scheduled. Construction for six new highways is commencing during 2019, with the work being planned and managed by the Guizhou Provincial Transportation Department. These six highway sections will all feature at least two lanes in either direction, five of which will be for traffic speeds up to 80km/h.
The 162km Nayong to Qinglong highway however will be for speeds up to 100km/h, is costing over US$5.
The Chinese city of Wuxi plans to invest US$1.28 billion (CNY 8bn) in transport infrastructure during 2013. Alterations will be made to 150 dangerous bridges and 15 bus routes will be adjusted and opened within the year. Wuxi will also replace and add 100 buses and construct and upgrade 150km of rural roads. The Shuofang International Airport's second-phase terminal expansion will be completed within 2013, part of plans to increase the airport's passenger throughput to 3.6 million per year.
