Construction starts on Yichang section of China’s Yichang-Yueyang expressway
Construction works have begun on the Yichang section of China’s new Yichang-Yueyang expressway. Covering 51.8km, the Yichang expressway section will cost around US$613.35 million (CNY 3.82bn).

Construction works have begun on the Yichang section of China’s new Yichang-Yueyang expressway. Covering 51.8km, the Yichang expressway section will cost around US$613.35 million (CNY 3.82bn).
China is helping provide funding for Nepal's road expansion. The Chinese Government has agreed a deal with the Nepalese Government to expand the Kathmandu Valley ring road. The feasibility study for the project has been completed and design work is currently underway.
Funding is being secured for a road rebuild and widening project in Tajikistan. The 82km road runs between Dushanbe and Bokhtar and the work should be complete by 2023. The Chinese contractor Xinjiang Beixin is working on phase 1 of the project, building a 33km stretch of the route that is costing US$96 million. Strong interest is being seen for the project to build Uganda’s new Kampala-Jinja Expressway. So far eight bids have been submitted for the project, which is expected to cost around US$985 million to build. The tender for the project should be awarded in December 2019. So far the bidders include the Austrian contractor Strabag, the Chinese contractor China Communications Construction Company (CCCC) and the Indian contractor Shapoorji Pallonji Group.
