Construction works have begun on the Yichang section of China’s new Yichang-Yueyang expressway. Covering 51.8km, the Yichang expressway section will cost around US$613.35 million (CNY 3.82bn).
The authorities in Indonesia have set out extensive plans to source funding for new tolled highways. In all seven highway projects have been identified as crucial to expanding the network and improving connectivity for the Indonesian islands of Sulawesi, Java and Sumatra. Some US$25 billion in loans from overseas has been sourced by the Public Works Ministry of Indonesia.
Talks between the Chinese Development Bank and the Serbian Government could result in €400-€450 million of Chinese funding for Serbian highway projects. The Danube coast and the Corridor 11 projects are among those earmarked for a potential cash boost. Serbia’s Ministry for Transport (MOT) is also in talks with Chinese partners about other highway builds including100km of the Belgrade-Cacak, Belgrade-Obrenovac, Preljina-Ljig and Lajkovac-Ljig routes, as well as the 100km Pojate-Preljina project. San Miguel (SMC) plans to extend the Skyway Stage 3 project in the Philippines. The link will measure close to 15km long and will provide a new route to and from eastern Metro Manila. The US$843.6 million project is intended to carry a high proportion of heavy vehicles, currently using other routes. This six lane stretch of elevated tollroad is being built to provide a link between the North Luzon Expressway (NLEx) and South Luzon Expressway (SLEx).
